Wet High-Intensity Magnetic Separator
The JONES is a unique designed Wet High-Intensity Magnetic Separator (WHIMS). It separates feeble magnetic from non-magnetic material, even at very fine grain sizes. JONES provides very high gradients of the magnetic field (up to 15.000 Gauss) at very low energy consumption - sufficient for your application. The robust design of the JONES guarantees high throughput rates in a compact machine, enabling small buildings and low operating and maintenance costs. The gaps between the grooved plates keep their identical dimensions for a long operation time, generating a uniform magnetic force, essential for a selective separation. Within the unhindered flow the possibility of blockage of the gaps by ferromagnetic parts with high magnetic susceptibility is minimized. With the correct gap size and the respective setting of the magnetic field, even small quantities of magnetic abrasive material in the feed are feasible.
The following operation options are given:
The separation will consist of three steps:
1. Attraction of magnetic particles within the magnetic field by grooved plates with non-magnetic particles passing straight through.
2. Washing of the magnetic fraction to remove any entrained non-magnetic particles to yield a middlings product.
3. Scouring of the magnetic fraction in the neutral zone to yield the magnetic product.
In actual operation the JONES WHIMS succeeded in up-grading iron ores and other mineral raw materials. Currently more than 180 JONES separators of different sizes have been supplied throughout the world, primarily separators of the type DP 317 designed for a capacity of nominal 120 t/h. Five different models for throughput rates from 200 t/h to 400 kg/h (for laboratory and pilot tests) are available.
