MBE-CMT News Update: Global Teams - Moscow
How we came to build the World’s widest jig and why our own company should be welcomed to MBE-CMT Global family soon.
Our office continues to work as an MBE-CMT representative. Currently there are 3 employees supporting the Cologne team in its sales, execution and commissioning activities.
The review meeting in June made the decision to establish our own company in Russia. This is a very important step towards better access to the market and particularly to the local currency market. It is crucial to getting more control over the after-sales market for our products and the supply of auxiliary equipment to our process lines. Moreover, clients request service contracts for our supplies. The registration is in progress and will hopefully be completed by the end of October. This means that we have to recruit for the regional support and service as well.
With respect to current projects, we recently received the acceptance protocol for process equipment which we supplied to Stepnoij. This was a full process line for a coal preparation plant with a Batac Jig. Thanks to all the people involved in this job.
At present, we are manufacturing a Batac Jig for the coal preparation plant Kirowa. With a width of 8 m., it will be the widest jig ever built.
There are several projects underway that should lead to contracts within this financial year. They are diverse in mineral and territorial aspect: coal beneficiation for anthracite coal, test work successfully executed for potash together with AKW, test work for Phosphate beneficiation in Kazakhstan. Just recently we received the Pneuflot testing sample for a copper ore in Kasakhstan.
The opportunities are there and it is our short term aim to contribute to the global MBE-CMT order intake of €5 – 10 m. per year.

We are getting younger. The optimal blend of experience and youth adding speed on the road to success
We are in the 45th year of our journey towards serving our country in the beneficiation sector. We have been the inspiration for many to understand the necessity of beneficiation of ore grade Coal and Mineral. During the course, and even now, we often encounter speed-breakers but with the confidence that has made us the leading name in our country, we overcome every hurdle; we win every battle, some with relative ease, while others with a little toil perhaps. But what we do gain out of them is immense confidence and the will to succeed.
After more than 30 years of learning, it is now our turn to let the next generation take up the throne and run faster towards the goal with their fresh ideas and new style of working. With the young ones coming in, the office is filled up with a new level of confidence. It is a wonderful experience to be with the lively group of people who have joined us to take the name ahead with pride. It is like having fun while at work with them. With the perfect blend of experience and youth, we are now ready to scale new heights, ready to venture into new avenues.
With the new names coming in the industry, competition is higher than ever, but we are setting for ourselves stiffer goals to be able to stand ahead of it. The goodwill of our Clients which has been there all these years still remains by and large, and is our biggest strength. The winning team of youth and experience, the aggressiveness of the new and the calming assurance of the old is certainly going to take us to whole new levels. Thanks to the competitors who have pressed us to bring the best out of ourselves and discover innovative ideas.

The Outlook for Pneuflot in South Africa
MBE’s pilot Pneuflot is on route to SA via Namibia. We have big plans for it once it arrives. A project house is positive in respect to testing the unit in a gold application this year and is very excited about the benefits already indicated for the Pneuflot as well as the knowledge and support given from the experts from our head office. Other mining houses also have their eyes on the Pneuflot and have requested time with the pilot unit. Wherever we go, the excitement about Pneuflot is growing. What started off with Evren’s presentation at the SACPS (South African Coal Processing Society) conference is set to grow and the SA office will be hard-pressed to keep up with the momentum started by a single presentation.
Other upcoming milestones are the commissioning and handover of another three 4-m Batac jigs at the Assmang Khumani iron ore mine. Commissioning is well underway and handover is expected by late November. This will increase the number of Batacs successfully in operation at the Khumani mine to seven 4-m wide machines with a combined capacity of 2260 t/h. Khumani is the single largest iron ore beneficiation / jigging operation supplied to date by MBE-CMT worldwide.
Another highlight is the long awaited final board approval by Assmang for the balance of a contract for the supply of 8 Jones WHIMS type DP 317. Following orders for the test work, feasibility study and critical components with long lead delivery, a final decision is expected in early October. A first of its kind in Southern Africa.
An upcoming global event is the Electra Mining Africa 2012 exhibition in Johannesburg (10 – 14 September), where besides Batac and Romjig, Jones WHIMS and Pneuflot will be key features on display. A portable model of the Jones DP 317 and Pneuflot built to scale will be added to the already existing range of impressive MBE-CMT product display at the EMA. The biannual EMA is the second largest mining exhibition worldwide and the key event for the minerals processing community in Africa.

MBE-CMT News Update: Global Teams - Jakarta
Brand positioning and establishment are the major tasks of the newest member of the MBE-CMT family right in the heart of the local mining industry
PT MBE Coal and Minerals Technology Indonesia is the youngest entity in the MBE-CMT global community that started its activity in May 2011. MBE Jakarta consists of Ms. Vivi Chandra as Finance and Administration Manager, and two sales managers: Mr. Abihuda Hidajat and Mr. Rolan Harahap. The unique character of the team is that all of the members are German universities’ alumni who are currently residing back to Indonesia. This is a great advantage since they have experience and a good understanding of both cultures, and could therefore adapt very well by synchronizing the way of work with the headquarters, while at the same time creating a local network, which is the base of our current market establishment process.
In comparison to other entities that already have their footprints on the local market, we are currently in the process of finding our position, so our main activities in the year ahead will address creating the right network and positioning our brand on the market. The first steps to introduce our technology and capabilities was done during our Company Symposium on the 20th September at the J.W. Marriott Hotel that is located adjacent to our office building, followed by fact finding tours to areas, rich in mineral resources.
The office is located in the golden triangle of the capital city of Indonesia -- Kuningan, Jakarta -- the hub of the mining industry. The location makes it possible for our sales managers to visit the prospective clients in regular intervals since most of the relevant businesses are seated in the surroundings of this area.
We are excited about our new challenge of capturing the local market and optimistic through all the support that we have received so far.

WHAT’S NEXT?
MBE Coal & Minerals in Cologne went through various difficult and sensitive situations in the last couple of years. Spin off from KHD Mother Company into an own legal entity; moves from the old hometown territory to Cologne-Holweide; moves back to Cologne-Kalk; and the latest and biggest change was the change of ownership. Seriously, these were a lot of changes. Yet the entire CMT Cologne team handled it extremely well.
A number of transformations were to be managed since October 2009. A huge number of new processes and functions had to be set up, new people joined, unfortunately some people passed away and some people left Coal & Minerals. But, CMT Cologne is still CMT Cologne. But, is it still the same? No, it isn’t. It has changed.
At present, we have plenty of new CMT functions and team members in Cologne. Besides the existing functions we now have our own HR, Finance, Procurement, Logistics and SAP. We didn’t have them before. Of course, at the beginning it was sometimes difficult. But now it seems as if it had never been any other way.
But what’s next?
Of course the changes will go on.
We have just implemented a new organisational structure in Cologne in August. The change was a logic step to cope with the next phase of global and local requirements. The sales team in Cologne is now concentrated in the hands of Jürgen Winckler with clearly defined sales areas. Ralf Werker, Head of the Cologne Operations Department, is now reporting to the CFO. Country managing directors will report to Jochen Schwerdtfeger. As a result, new processes and communication flows are already in place. Additional ones will have to be developed and implemented until we are satisfied. Our shareholder appreciated doing this next step for more efficient local and global market coverage.
In addition, the number and size of joint projects and transactions across CMT companies will increase. CMT group has globally expended into various regions and countries. We are already witnessing the first positive results in Cologne. On the one hand, this means additional changes and headaches. This will have an effect on all people in sales, operations and finance. On the other hand, this means that we will learn more about the strength of our CMT group.
Of course, the new SAP will change our Cologne business life. Our APS system will fade out and disappear, although not immediately. Some additional and helpful IT application may come.
We are busy getting our own R&D Centre up and running. We know what to do with our machines but we can do even better. And this is what we would like to prove and achieve.
New people will join to support where CMT Cologne is heading. Some people may leave.
Everybody has his own view on changes and challenges. I see very interesting and exciting times ahead for CMT Cologne. And one never really knows what comes next.

MORE OBLIGATIONS AND A NEVER-ENDING DRIVE TO DO OUR BEST OPERATING FROM OUR NEW PREMISES AFTER ALMOST A YEAR HAS GONE BY
It has been over 8 months since our Beijing Company was established last year. The most distinct feeling for me is that things are getting considerably busier than before, when we were a branch office. Yet every one of us seems to be enjoying this state of constantly having their hands full.
When we were a branch office, we served as the link between our company and the customers. The customers used to have a specialised department which signed contracts in EURO directly with Germany. And it would be very easy to pay the spare parts if the seller was a foreign company, but with local companies it wasn’t quite that way. That was the Chinese situation. This year, as we began to sign the spare parts contracts in the local currency (RMB), there will be a lot of complex procedures, and we’ll need to prepare all tenders on our own. Despite the numbers of tenders, the business trips, the negotiations, and the complex procedures, we are glad to see how many contracts we have. Everyone contributes to this success by giving their best at work.
In addition to domestic deals, we have several projects abroad.
We will have our new office located in a huge open space, presently being decorated. The space was separated to form 5 rooms: Manager’s office, finance office, meeting room, tea room and a lobby area.
